Abortion Marketing Goes High Tech With Cell Phone Texting
(June
24, 2009) Summer's in full swing. Chicagoland women at area beaches and shopping
malls should beware — abortion clinics are looking for you.
Women have
been targeted in shopping districts, on social networking sites, and now even
with cell phones in cities like Chicago via free text messaging sex advice.
Recently, says the Elliot Institute, "programs around the nation are
cropping up, encouraging [young women] to send their questions about sex and
related issues via text-messages on their cell phones. They then receive
anonymous answers and advice from 'sex experts.' "
"If you take a shower
before you have sex, are you less likely to get pregnant?" asks a teen via a
text message service sponsored by the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign
of North Carolina (APPCNC). She is answered by an online counselor who provides
information that is prohibited by some public schools.
The texting
service, covered in a story by the
New York Times, makes it clear that
counselors of such programs promote high-risk hormonal birth control as well as
abortion, without the counselor having knowledge of the young woman's medical
history, a necessary part of any quality health care counseling.
Abortion
Clinic Marketing
There is no doubt where such services, also offered in
Chicago, Washington, D.C.; Toronto, and San Francisco, will send those who ask
about abortion. The electronic referral network seems to be well in place to
funnel many women toward abortion clinics which may have
medical malpractice
lawsuits pending against them.
Women should be aware that advice of such
services is ultimately coming from those who profit from abortion procedures in
some way. The danger of coerced or forced abortion is ever present among those
who may feel pressured into making a life-changing decision by those who stand
to make a profit on their crisis.
Women in Chicago, Berwyn, Cicero,
Stickney, N. Riverside and surrounding suburbs deserve to get complete
information about the various options concerning an abortion decision by calling WomanCare Services in Berwyn, at
708-795-6000.
